Hi,
I recently sent an application to immigrate to Quebec.
I am still waiting for the "Certificat de Selection du Quebec"
I know that if I don't enter/immigrate to Canada within one year from the health tests, I'll have to do them again.
When I receive the "certificat de selection" and wish to apply to the Govermnment of Canada, I should do the health tests.
My question:
Could I do the health tests even BEFORE I receive the answer of the Quebec government about the "certificat de selection"?
Thanks

I called the doctor's office in my region that is authorized to do the medical tests, and they informed me that I have to wait until I receive some document from Buffalo. I wanted to go ahead and send my medical exams with my application, but they told me they cannot perform them without this document. (Sorry I can't remember the name of the form.) I went back online and did some more research about it and realized that not all applicants will even be asked to submit the examination. So I suggest, wait until you receive the selection certificate, otherwise you may risk spending money on an examination that you may not have ever needed, or one that may expire before you enter.
Hi & Thanks a lot for your reply.
So I guess I have to wait to receive the certificate.
but I'm sure everyone from my country is required to do the medical tests.
by the way, if u live in the States, why do you want to go to Quebec?
do they pay better salaries/wages in the US?

I am actually looking to go to Ontario (Ottawa) -- I visited there about a year and a half ago and just fell in love. I hope to be able to move there after I complete my university degree this August. I will be very close to Quebec (Gatineau) and will most likely visit there often. (I love the Gatineau Hills -- beautiful!)

I am applying for permanent residence "outside Canada" because I can't stay here for 18 months.
My conjugal partner will sponsor me.
I travel from the US to Ottawa every month. Immigration has already questioned me twice. Will it help if I have proof of my application if they question me again when I land at the Ottawa airport?
Also would it be acceptable to get my medical exam in Ottawa as opposed to the US? Not many doctors in the US are approved by Canadian Immigration.
Thanks for any help you can offer - I'm sort of lost and scared at the same time!

My main recommendation for avoiding questions at the airport is to carry a passport (as opposed to your ID and birth certificate). My only other tips are, pack only what you need, claim all items you are taking in and not returning with, remain calm and consistant; tell them exactly why you are there, and offer all information pertaining to addresses and phone numbers of people you are staying with. No matter how many times you cross the border, your attitude with the immigration officer will be the biggest determination as to whether you are questioned further. I have traveled over numerous times now, and the only time I ran into any trouble was when traveling with my child. I have seen several people pulled to the side for extensive questioning for having an ill attitude with the officers. Just smile, and tell the truth! =-)
As for the medical examination in Canada, I would recommend calling the CIC Call center the next time you visit Ottawa (can only call from inside Canada) -- 1-888-242-2100. Be sure to have a list of questions in front of you before you call, that way you can make sure you remember to ask everything before returning to the States.
Hope this was helpful, and good luck!
