I'm assuming the answer is no but I figured I'd check since Kyle knows everything. I could easily submit my application by this fall/winter but I'm still waiting on my diploma and transcript from university which will be completed next spring. Is it possible to submit earlier, get a lot of waiting out of the way then forward the rest of it while it's processing?

Hi Chilifan, I think it would be better to wait because if you send an incomplete file they might return it to you.
Where are you from? :)

I agree that you should consider waiting. If you have not yeat obtained your degree, you will not get points for it and your application will be returned, or worse, rejected. To my understanding, a person whose application is actually rejected must wait longer to re-apply. I am also completing my degree and am waiting to apply. I plan to graduate in August, so I am now beginning to put my resume out to get a job offer so that the company will have time to submit to the HDRC and receive their reply. Once my job offer has been received, and my degree has been stamped, I will submit my application, that way I have less of a chance of rejection.

Hope this advice is helpful. Oh, in the meantime, be sure to research, research, and research some more. I made my decision over a year ago to move to Canada, and have been reading up on it every day since. I want to make sure that the move is as flawless as possible.

Good luck!

hello all I have a question? if I am now a sophomore, do I ( in the self assesment test on cic website) check two year of apprenticeship, or a two year at university degree(i havent recieved anything but transcripts), I was planning to apply early when I become 21 b4 I finish college, because I figured out I would pass the 67 mark b4 I get my college degree, the reason is I am fraid they might put the passing mark up when I get my degree.

They definitely won't UP the pass mark since they lowered it from 75 to 67 in 2003 but I think you're in the same boat as me if you want to get full ed points. If you have enough points without it go ahead. Are you applying through Buffalo? I know they want transcripts and diploma if you have it for post-secondary so send whatever you have or is in progress so far.

Its kinda hard, I dont know what point I might get with my two year college, my last diploma is an american highschool, I want to know wether I would get points for my two year college,( like the two year apprenticeship) or not, cause it looks like I will have to wait two more years till I finish college, u know I am studying at this canadian college overseas.

If you're already on a study permit that might be different. I think for the two-year degree it needs to be like an associate's or trade certification, not just two years on a four-year degree since it's not completed yet.

Yeah, it sucks. :( Just try for a work permit in the meantime so you can live there after graduation.

Hi

Well, you can apply early and you must give some proof for your graduation date or something.
some of my friends applied with 65 and 66 points last year(they had bachelors +work experience).Till now, they didnot finish their degree. But CHC people gave another 5 points for their Masters education in Canada. Now they have PR (b4 finishing their degree).

If u want to take a risk and save time, u can apply now. They will verify ur records after 3 months.....

I also applied for PR from Berlin CHC b4 my graduation... till now they didnot return my application. I have to finish my degree asap to save my application , otherwise they will reject.

Hi

While applying , i wrote a letter to CHC stating them that i am in the last semester and i will be graduating in May 2006 and then i claimed 3 additional points for M.S degree b4 the course completion. I took a risk and then applied 6 months before. so far i didnot get any rejection letter or returned application. so i think it is under processing(though i have only 65 points without M.S degree) . But my bad luck , i cannot finish it b4 august.
Till date.... i havenot heared anything from them. Inorder to save my application i should have finished my M.S in May 2006. But i can finish my course only in next semester. so i stated that i have to finish my M.S to avoid the rejection letter from them.

My suggestion to you is to appply early. for example., if u r completing your course with in 4 or 5 months , u can file your application now and write a covering letter to them about ur course completion date. some of my friends took this risk and almost they got it now.

Cheers

I think you are correct Chilifan -- the points for the two year level of education would be for an associate's degree like you said. The determining factor is, what level of education/degree has been completed. While he has finished 2 out of his four years, it is the four year degree he will get credit for, not the two.
