Hi,

I was wondering if anyone know the answer to my question.
I am a canadian citizen currently living in France. I am marrying a French national in a month. We are actually thinking of moving to Canada, Quebec specifically. I was wondering what the whole process is for my husband to be to immigrate to Canada with me. I mean would it be easier and faster for him to do the whole process by himself to immigrate to Quebec or do I need to be his sponsor. I guess time is very important to us.If anybody knows what would be best in this case I would really appreciate it.

thank you

Magdalena, you have a few options here. For starters yes, you can apply (either from within Canada or from overseas) to sponsor your husband (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/sponsor/index.html), and as another member mentioned, this may be the fastest route to take (albeit, it's still certainly not an overnight type of thing).

Aside from that option, if your husband has a skilled profession trade he may qualify to apply as a skilled worker (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/skilled/index.html), which would grant him (if approved) a PR card. (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pr-card/index.html)

If your hubby was able to find a job in Canada and his new company was committed to helping bring him over here (Canada), he would then apply for a temporary worker's permit (if I'm not mistaken, they are issued for up to 1 year at a time) and be allowed to work solely for that company for the allotted amount of time that his permit stated. Before his temp worker's permit expired you guys would have to figure out what step you'd like to take to remain in Canada - while every situation is different, spousal sponsorship would likely be your main option there.

I hope this helps you a tad. I know where you're coming from as I too am a Canadian woman who married a European man ;) (I don't have any firsthand knowledge however about the system in Quebec (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/skilled/quebec/index.html) though, sorry.)
